Bali’s latest surfing prodigy, Jeren Kiring, scored a narrow victory at the Rip Curl Grom Search Medewi on Sunday. Kiring (15, Canggu) captured a much-needed wave late in the final and muscled out enough maneuvers to win the under-16 division by a fraction of a point ahead of Angga Mardiana (15, Nusa Lembongan). Rounding out the final was Koko Mitsuantara (13, Nusa Dua) in third and a new member of the 69Slam team, Moi (15, Canggu) in fourth.
As the top two placing surfers at Medewi, Kiring and Mardiana qualified for the Grom Search National Finals, October 23-24 at Kuta Beach.

The 14-year-old Caribbean champion made her first pro contest a memorable one, winning the "Angel Eyewear Women’s Pro contest" at the 25th annual National Kidney Foundation Labor Day Surf Festival. She did it by knocking off Team USA surfers Jasset Umbel of Melbourne Beach and Nikki Viesins of Indialantic, along with Hawaii’s Leah Dawson, who later captured the top prize in the Women’s Longboard Pro. "I know some of the girls are older and they’re really good, but I figure I’m at that level now," Tuach said. If not, she’s getting there quickly.... The surf world has to keep both eyes on her....

The 2010 Olympics of Vancouver are now finished, and the least we can say is that the 69Slam colors have been well represented with 5 of our riders Playing Loud out there.
First of all, our local rider Dominique Vallée has been carrying the Olympic flame through her native country and did the opening of the Halp-Pipe contest.
Our boy Aluan Riccardi has been the sensation of the qualifications with huge runs and impressive tricks. He ends up 15th at the general ranking, great result for the first Olympics of this young (22 years old) rider.
